We’re buying some new e-movies from OverDrive, specially available to WSPL patrons!

Head to the library’s OverDrive Download Centre and choose “Video” from the side menu. You can also search for titles you’re interested in.

Here’s a run-down of the titles purchased yesterday and already available (when you download, you’ll also have access to the mobile version for your handheld devices!):

Everest: A Climb for Peace.  A socially relevant documentary about peace, war, and the human spirit showing the journey of 9 peace climbers as they climb Mt. Everest.

Nelson Mandela: One Man. Nelson Mandela is a shining example of what one man can do to change the world. Born into an oppresive regime, he fought to overcome prejudice and hate to unify a nation.

Nosferatu.  The first screen adaptation of Dracula, this is one of the greatest horror movies ever made. Light and shadow highlight Max Schreck’s unforgettable perfomance as the evil vampire Count Orloff. Young estate agent Thomas Hutter agrees to help Count Orloff relocate to the city. Soon, Hutter and his wife are ensnared by the vampire’s deadly powers.

Tapped.  The high cost — to both the environment and our health — of bottled water is the subject of this documentary that enlists activists, environmentalists, community leaders and others to expose the dark side of the bottled water industry.

And more to come!

Note that to watch these movies, you’ll require a PC running Windows 98, Internet Explorer 6, and Windows Media Player 9, or newer. You’ll also have to have OverDrive Media Console  installed on your computer.  The My Help section on the Download Centre website can help you with all of that, and library staff are always available to try to help answer your questions.
