One of our young members got a chance to go to the Toronto Premiere of the Hunger Games, and agreed to write a guest post for us. You’ve got us all excited for the movie, Mikayla!

“I had the wonderful opportunity to go to the Canadian Premiere of the Hunger Games. My mother won the tickets off of a Toronto radio station and it just happened to be my friend’s birthday, so I decided to take her with me. We left at 3:00, right after school, and drove downtown to the Scotiabank Theatre.  It took an hour to get there and when we did my friend and I were full of excitement. As we pulled up beside the Scotiabank Theatre, we saw men dressed in back waving flags with mocking jays on them.  The line was very long to get into the theatre and people dressed as peace keepers stood outside the theatre.

My father and younger brother generously held our spot in line as my friend and I took pictures and roamed around. The MTV building was close by and we found ourselves joining the crowd of screaming Peeta-crazed girls. We watched as Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), Liam Hemsworth (Gale), and Alexander Ludwig (Cato) were interviewed. When they were done the crowd broke apart and we headed back to our spot in line.

After waiting for another hour or so in line we pushed our way into the theatre and got our tickets. My father and brother left to eat dinner and we watched yet another interview with the actors, this time we were close enough to touch them. When the interview was finished the three actors gave out autographs. (My friend and I had nothing to get signed) Then, we finally made our way to our seats to watch the movie. The three actors entered once again and told us to enjoy the movie. The movie was awesome and a good representation of the book.  Going to the premiere was an incredible experience and I am truly glad that I got to enjoy it with my friend!”
